Pint sized and full bodied with a hoppy attitude

Need some holiday cheer? Have a holiday beer.

Need some holiday cheer? Have a holiday beer.

We wish you a beery Christmas, we wish you a beery Christmas and a hoppy new year … looks like it’s about that time for the Christmas brews to come out! Christmas beers are awesome because they are able to choose from many different types of beers and mix them with an array of accents. From cinnamon, nutmeg, to chicory, and just straight up Christmas air, they have it all!

This weekend was filled of making a video about tasting said such beers! I’m only able to cover a couple on my blog, only because there would be way too many!!So… we totally snuck in a pregame beer because I was super nervous! The beer that we decided to do this with was the Community IPA, and of course it was such a refreshing crispy start to our journey through the dark side of Christmas beers.

This recording all started out with a fluster of lights and pictures as we were enjoying our IPA! The nerves finally settled down as we sat in front of this very snazzy camera on a tripod… we took at deep breath and began our intro. After we got our creative juices flowing we were able to talk with ease. The first one that we tried was the Lakewood Temptress SinMint, this little seductive lady was so good, it tasted like a thin mint liquefied in one of my favorite stouts! The other 9 are up to you to take a peek at the videos! We continued trying new beers with delight, but of course after a few tasters and a drinking game we were having a great time! But as for me I’m going over a couple that we had that night and one that I kept for my self (on accident).

So first off is the Upslope Christmas, this one was a total different taste IMG_4698then I was expecting. The look of it was very dark brown translucent. It
had a super intense scent that was very firm and wintery. The taste was something interesting… of course I was expecting a sweet Christmas but instead I got a different sideof the season. The start was very malty and hoppy, the second taste was kind of prune-like, and there finally was a slight taste of pine, and just a hint of chicory. Strange and good 3.5 out of 5.

Another one was the White IPA by New Belgium. This beer was a little to light for my likings. It was very smooth, but lacked the flavors I was looking for in a Christmas beer. There were hints of light hops, and wheat, with a slight tinge of citrus. I would have to give it 2 out of 5. These guys are usually a strong hit or a little bit of a miss. Our palate was prepared for some high alcohol and deep flavors that night so I may have been a little biased.

Finally, The one that I tried by myself was the Prairie Christmas Bomb. This tasted like an Imperial for sure. It punched me in the face with beerIMG_4735.JPG goodness. It poured a deep opaque molasses darkness with a dense thin head. The smell was stout to say the least with Christmas baking spices and beer. The taste changed through out, the first was espresso/ coffee, very bitter and the next it sweetened up to a vanilla toffee, and finally the next few sips tasted like a cinnamon bun and left me with sticky lips. This was definitely a beer to try if you like a little ride. 4 out of 5.

The video should be coming out this week! Please check it out and let me know how you like that side of The Beerded Lady! I can’t wait for you all to see it. • Love the article and I can’t wait to see the video . Is there going to be a video? Where can I watch it? I have been working on my photography skills and my beer drinking skills. With the holidays there are so many specials and one offs coming out. So I am grabbing as many as I can. But local drink local is my thing so I am focusing on Texas beers.
Keep up the good work. Can’t wait for the next round .
