Pint sized and full bodied with a hoppy attitude

Spring is in the air

Spring is in the air

Here’s a little story I’d like to tell about a few beers that you might not know so well. It started with a wedding on the grandest scale and then ended in my back yard with a pint of ale. Ok, ok so I got a little inspired by the good ole Beastie Boys! But on the real, it has been great start to the spring months. Of course beers have been involved in all the adventures we’ve had thus far. It seems like most of these beers are great day sippers, which is nice for the warmer weather hitting our good state! The season is perfect for patios, weddings, and sun.

IMG_2716.JPGDuring a trip to a South Carolina wedding, I tasted the Westbrook Brewing Co. White Thai. This was a funky take on a witbier. There were hints of ginger, lemon, and a kick replaced the coriander and orange peel that are normally included in this beer creating a refreshing Asian outlook to a classic German taste. I give it a 3.5 out of 5.

Jester King’s Simple Means had a smoky entrance and after a while of sipping I noticed figs nuts, walnuts and Bar-b-cue saucy-ness. A beer with this many flavors and quirks about it deserves a 4 out of 5. But please do not take this beer lightly it is an investigative beer.
Thanks K.C.

My national beer day beer was the Myrcenary Double IPA by Odell, I have to say I was thoroughlyimpressed. I was expecting a dry hoppy click to the tongue taste but instead I got coriander-citrus with a malty skunky flower on the tip of your nose taste. A good ole 3 out of 5

So this one is for the boozy lovers. Quads are technically one of my favorite beers to lean IMG_2824.JPGtowards for their choco, draak fruit, and maltiness. This one fell along these lines. I tasted a little whiskey maybe? With some malt of course, and the depth of the beer was unexplainable there were so many levels. From booze to beer I tasted oranges, plums, and vanilla. I was drinking a Golden Draak! I could have sworn it tasted like dragons blood but it turned out to be a less than magical ale. This my friends deserves a 5 out of 5. From Brouwerij Van Steenberge.

This beer is a fantastic beer to sit outside, enjoy the sun, and write your blog. With the relaxing notes of vanilla and calmness of the white oak Jai Alai IPA is a perfect sitting outside with your dogs beer. Enjoy this malty goodness with the faint of heart and the heat of the sun as it is to refresh your every need. 4 out of 5. Thanks Colt!
